God revealed Himself to Israel as Jehovah Mekoddishkem—the Lord who sanctifies. To sanctify means to set apart, to make holy, to cleanse from what defiles. Notice God doesn’t say, “Make yourself holy.” He says, “I am the Lord who makes you holy.” Holiness isn’t about us trying harder, but about allowing God to do His transforming work in us. Leviticus 20:8 says, “You shall keep My statutes and practice them; I am the Lord who sanctifies you.”

In our daily lives, we often strive to “fix” ourselves whether it’s breaking bad habits, controlling anger, or becoming more patient. But real change comes not from self-effort alone, but from surrender. When we trust God’s Spirit to work within us, He shapes us into Christ’s image.

Today, instead of focusing on your shortcomings, focus on surrender. Ask the Lord to sanctify your thoughts, words, and actions. Maybe it’s choosing patience when frustrated, or honesty when tempted to cut corners. Remember, Jehovah Mekoddishkem is at work in you. Holiness isn’t about perfection overnight, but daily transformation through His grace.

Today let us pray this. Lord, thank You for being Jehovah Mekoddishkem, the One who sanctifies me. I can’t make myself holy, but I surrender my life to You. Work in me today so that my thoughts, words, and actions reflect Jesus. Amen.
