“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16

The true meaning of Christmas is found in this verse. The greatest gift ever given was not wrapped in paper or placed under a tree, it was wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. God gave His Son, not out of obligation, but out of love.

This love is vast and unmeasurable. It reaches beyond our failures and our sin. It was love that moved God to send His Son into the world, knowing that the manger would one day lead to the cross. Christmas and Calvary cannot be separated, Christ was born so that we might be born again.

God’s love is not just for the world in general; it is for you personally. When you see the manger, remember this: “God so loved you.”

Thank God for His sacrificial love, and ask Him to help you reflect that love in your relationships this season.
